The Port Aransas Jetties are massive rock structures that protect the ship channel. They took 50 years to build (completed 1919) and extend into the Gulf, creating excellent fishing and walking areas. Watch massive cargo ships pass inches away, fish for redfish and trout, or simply enjoy the sea breeze. The south jetty is accessible by car; the north requires a ferry crossing.
